A traditional razai is heavy, very warm and hard to wash; a comforter is lighter, easier to handle and usually comes as a matching set. At MunafaExpress.pk a 7-piece double-bed comforter set costs Rs 4,399 and a single razai cover set Rs 1,699. This guide helps you decide which one suits your home, which size to buy and how to keep it clean.

Razai vs comforter: the quick answer
| Razai (quilt) | Comforter | |
|---|---|---|
| Filling | Usually cotton (rui), sometimes polyester | Polyester fibre |
| Weight | Heavy | Light to medium |
| Warmth | Very warm – best for the coldest weeks and cold cities | Warm – enough for most of November to February in the plains |
| Washing | Hard: the filling is washed rarely, so use a removable cover | Easier: lighter to wash and dry |
| Look | Needs a cover and a bed sheet | Often sold as a matching set with sheet and pillow covers |
| Price at our shop | Single razai cover set Rs 1,699 (cover only) | 7-piece comforter set Rs 4,399 |
Rule of thumb: in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad or Multan a comforter is enough for most nights, and you add a fleece blanket on top in late December. In Quetta, Murree, Gilgit or northern KPK, a cotton razai is still the warmest choice.
Our comforter sets: what you get for Rs 4,399
Our maroon and navy blue floral comforter sets are complete 7-piece sets for a double bed, so the whole bed matches in one go:
- 1 filled comforter
- 1 bed sheet – 90 x 97 inches
- 4 pillow covers – 29 x 19 inches
- 1 cushion cover – 15 x 15 inches
- Fabric: printed cotton salonica (a cotton mix)
Buying the pieces one by one usually costs more, and finding pillow covers in the same print is hard. See all razai and comforter sets.
Razai and razai cover sizes
Razai sizes are not fully standard in Pakistan, so always measure your quilt before you buy a cover. As a guide:
- Single razai – roughly 60 inches wide and 90 inches long. Our cotton single razai cover set is 60 x 94 inches, with a matching pillow cover.
- Double razai – roughly 90 inches wide or more. Measure the width of your quilt and add 1–2 inches so the cover slides on easily.
- A cover that is a little loose is fine; one that is tight pulls the stitching and is hard to put on.
Why a razai cover saves you work
A razai filling is heavy and can take days to dry in winter, so most families wash it rarely. A removable cover keeps the filling clean: you take the cover off, wash it in the machine and slip it back on. It also makes an old razai look new on the bed.
How to care for a razai or comforter
- Air it in the sun for a few hours every couple of weeks – it freshens the filling and keeps it fluffy.
- Wash covers, sheets and pillow covers in cold water; wash dark prints separately the first time.
- Shake and turn the comforter often so the filling spreads evenly.
- In summer, store it fully dry in a breathable bag or a zip storage box for quilts, with a few cloves or neem leaves against insects.
Building a warm bed for winter
The warmest and easiest-to-wash bed is built in layers: a sheet on the mattress, a comforter or razai, and a fleece blanket on top for the coldest nights. Read our blanket buying guide to choose the right blanket size.
